The Dallas Stars winger has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for cross-checking Minnesota Wild forward Kirill Kaprizov in the head during Thursday’s Game 6, the league announced Friday.
Rantanen was given a minor roughing penalty for the cross-check during the game.
The Stars went on to lose the game and the series on Thursday. Rantanen finished with a goal and seven assists in the six games.
Losing in the opening round of the playoffs is the Stars’ worst finish since 2021-22, after three straight Western Conference Finals appearances.
