It traditionally hosts the monarch and close relatives during Christmas and New Year celebrations, a custom Queen Elizabeth II began in 1988 and maintained for decades. The suggestion that Epstein and Maxwell were welcomed into this intimate setting has sent shockwaves through both royal watchers and the British public.
Royal Experts Andrew Was a “Bargaining Chip”

“These lurid images confirm Andrew’s dreadful judgment and his flaunting of royal privilege,” Fordwich said. “What Andrew conferred upon Epstein was something no amount of wealth could ever buy legitimacy. By bringing Epstein into royal spaces, Andrew sent a message to others that Epstein was acceptable, even desirable, company.”
Fordwich added that Andrew’s presence functioned as an unspoken endorsement, insulating Epstein from suspicion and scrutiny.
Fallout for the Monarchy
The renewed attention has also underscored the lasting damage Andrew’s actions have inflicted on the monarchy. For an institution that relies heavily on tradition, dignity, and public trust, the idea that Epstein and Maxwell mingled within royal environments is deeply unsettling.
“These images dull the shine of the monarchy,” Matta said. “Andrew’s public role may be finished, but the institution is still dealing with the consequences of his decisions.”
In October 2025, King Charles officially stripped Andrew of his remaining royal titles and honors, marking a decisive break from his disgraced brother. Andrew had already been evicted from Royal Lodge and removed from public duties, effectively ending his role as a working royal.
Family Strain and Quiet Distancing
