Jameis Winston will be remembered long after his NFL career ends, and it’s not because of his quarterback play.
The former No. 1 pick is a unique sports personality. His quirky quotes — including the infamous “nom, nom, nom. That’s a W. Let’s eat one.” — inspire fans to tune in to find out what he might say next.
This summer, Winston will take his talents to a new platform, serving as a correspondent for Fox Sports’ coverage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Fox Sports revealed Winston’s gig on Wednesday, May 6, on X with the caption “Putting the W in World Cup!”
Meanwhile, Winston has no plans to retire from the NFL. He is entering the second season of the two-year, $8 million deal he signed with the New York Giants.
But the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers starter has been preparing for life after football. He served as a correspondent for Fox Sports during the week before the Super Bowl in 2025 and appeared on Netflix’s coverage of the 2026 MLB opener.
As for his World Cup contribution, Winston shared a reveal video from Fox Sports on X and added, “Can’t wait to be back with the @FoxSports team and be part of the biggest global sporting event in the World!”

The video features Winston telling his Giants teammates, Fox soccer analysts and his mom Loretta about being selected a World Cup correspondent. New York players Jaxson Dart, Cam Skattebo, Malik Nabers, Brian Burns and Jermaine Eluemunor give their reactions along with Fox’s Stu Holden and Alexi Lalas.
Winston couldn’t resist letting out a “Goooooooooooooooal!” call.
“Can you imagine seeing the World Cup through my eyes?” Winston asked Skattebo.
The Buccaneers selected Winston No. 1 overall in the 2015 NFL Draft. He won the Heisman Trophy and led Florida State to the national title in 2013, his redshirt freshman season.
As a pro, Winston started 70 games during five seasons with Tampa Bay, going 28-42. He has primarily been a backup since then. In 2025, he started two games, both of which the Giants lost.
Finally, the U.S., Canada and Mexico host the World Cup beginning June 10. All 104 matches will be available through Fox, Fox Sports 1 and the Fox Sports and Fox One apps.
