Season 7 of Unexpected is making waves as producers document a young couple’s road to parenthood.
From February to May 2026, viewers of TLC’s hit reality show got a front-row seat into the relationship of Bella Vaughn, 15, and Hunter Johnson, 13, as they prepared to welcome their first child together.
The pre-teens are trying their best to grow up quickly, even as their extended family weighs in on the unique situation.
“I don’t want him to be held back in the 8th grade,” Bella’s mom, Falen, shared in the season 7 trailer.
Bella replied, “I don’t want him to be a tenth grader dating an eighth grader. We’ve got a toddler.”

Hunter was ordered by the court to not sleep over at Bella’s home, according to court documents obtained by Us Weekly in March 2026.
Records show a judge ruled in November 2025 that Hunter would no longer be allowed to “live with” Bella and her family, or be able to stay over at her house, per his father’s request.
“Neither party shall allow the minor child to stay overnight at a romantic partner’s house,” the temporary custody order stated.

Bella defended her romance with Hunter via TikTok in January 2026.
“I did not ruin Hunter’s life. When I found out that I was pregnant, I gave him the option. I said, ‘If you can’t do this or you don’t want to be here, that is fine. I understand we’re both very young, but I can do this on my own or with you. It’s your decision. Whatever you choose, I’m fine with,’” Bella shared via TikTok on January 19. “He chose to stay with me. He chose to take care of our baby.”
Despite the pair getting engaged in May 2026, Bella announced less than one month later that she and Hunter had called it quits.
“This is the video I have been asked to make a million times to finally address it, and yes, we did break up,” she said in a TikTok video. “I won’t go into detail why, but he lied to me and hurt my feelings, and two days later was talking to someone new. It was not a big deal, so yeah, there was no drama, no tea behind it.”
Bella added, “Please don’t go attacking anyone, including us. I am better off on my own.”

“I just wanted to come on here and make a quick video,” Kris shared via TikTok on January 25 while responding to haters. “Due to all the trolls and the women quickly being known as what I have to say on TV as the unscrewables, they are going to make season 7 hot. It’s going to be a hot season.”
He added, “All they’re doing is making us the stars of the show and I got to tell y’all, my royalty check is going to be so fat.”

During the Unexpected season 7 premiere on February 16, 2026, Hunter revealed how his dad reacted to the news of Bella’s pregnancy.
“He said I ruined my life,” the teen said in a confessional. “I do not feel like I ruined my life.”
When asked by a producer how he felt when his dad told him that, Hunter responded, “I know Bella won’t believe me, [but] I didn’t care.”
Bella wasn’t convinced, chiming in, “I think he may not show it but sometimes it really upsets him.” Hunter insisted, “No, it don’t.”

In a TikTok video, the reality star clarified that Hunter was 12 years old when they conceived their son, Wes, but he turned 13 just a few days later.
“I understand it doesn’t make it any better. I understand he was sexually ready faster than I was, and that’s OK, but I was ready when we had sex,” she said. “You can all stop saying that it was illegal and that I raped him because I didn’t. It was both intentional. On both sides, people have already said that. We’ve already talked to the cops about it. It was consensual.”

In a sneak peek from the season 7 premiere of Unexpected, Bella shared personal details about her sex life in a candid conversation with her mom.
“All [Hunter] wants to do is have sex,” she shared in a preview clip. “I’m not gonna get pregnant again; I’m already pregnant.”
In another point in the clip, Bella revealed she got pregnant after Hunter’s condom broke.
“I found out I was pregnant because I missed my period. My periods were 28 days on the dot,” she said. “When I missed that period that morning, I was like, ‘Mom, I need to take a test.’ Surely enough, it was positive.”

Bella announced her engagement to Hunter in May 2026.
