Sandvik has entered into an agreement to acquire Diemme Filtration, an Italian manufacturer specialising in filtration and dewatering systems for the mining industry.
Under the terms of the deal, Diemme Filtration will form a new division, Filtration, within Sandvik’s Rock Processing business area.
The acquisition marks Sandvik’s entry into the filtration and dewatering segment, broadening the company’s offering along the mining value chain.
Filtration is described as a core process in downstream mining, with Diemme Filtration’s solid-liquid separation technologies cited for enabling productivity improvements, enhanced water recovery and management of tailings.
The company’s business includes engineered-to-order filtration systems, a growing aftermarket operation, and monitoring and predictive maintenance software.
This digital capability is intended to complement Sandvik Rock Processing’s existing digital services.
Diemme Filtration operates a manufacturing site and engages in research and development activities.
It employs around 200 people and serves a diverse, global customer base in copper, gold, nickel and battery materials mining.
Sandvik expects the investment to deliver returns in line with its cost of capital within three years, with further improvement beyond that point.
The companies have not disclosed the purchase price. Sandvik stated that the acquisition is likely to contribute positively to earnings per share, excluding purchase price allocation effects.
Completion of the transaction is anticipated in the third quarter of 2026.
Sandvik president and CEO Stefan Widing said: “I am very pleased with this acquisition, which is strongly aligned with our strategy to grow in attractive niches in downstream mining.
“With Diemme Filtration we add a profitable and fast-growing niche within mineral processing to our core offering, that strengthens our position with key mining customer groups and brings an attractive aftermarket business.”
Earlier this month, Sandvik secured a major order from China-based JCHX Mining Management to supply an underground mining equipment fleet for use at the Khoemacau Copper Mine in Botswana.
“Sandvik agrees to acquire Italy’s Diemme Filtration” was originally created and published by Mining Technology, a GlobalData owned brand.
