The Angels had Thursday off after beating the visiting Colorado Rockies 11-4 on Wednesday night to salvage the finale of a three-game series. Walbert Ureña struck out seven in six innings of work, allowing three runs on three hits, while Wade Meckler and Nick Madrigal each had four of the Angels’ 16 hits. Vaughn Grissom hit a two-run homer in the fourth, and the Angels took control with six runs in the second inning.
Right-hander Roki Sasaki (3-3) takes the hill for the Dodgers in the series opener, coming in with a 4.59 ERA and 1.353 WHIP in 10 starts and 51 innings. The Angels had not announced a starter for Friday, though left-hander Reid Detmers (2-5) is next up in the rotation.
