Grey Cup finalists Mace, Maas named finalists for CFL coach of the year

Corey Mace of the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Jason Maas of the Montreal Alouettes are again the finalists for the CFL’s coach of the year award.

The CFL made the announcement Monday. Voting for the honour was conducted by the Football Reporters of Canada.

The award will be presented March 25 in Edmonton ahead of the league’s annual national combine.

Saskatchewan defeated Montreal 25-17 in the Grey Cup in November.

Mace led Saskatchewan to a CFL-best 12-6 regular-season record in 2025 and is an award finalist for the second straight year.

Maas, who was named the league’s top coach in 2024, guided Montreal to a 10-8 record and fourth straight playoff appearance last season.

The Hugh Campbell Distinguished Leadership Award will also be presented at the combine, as will the inaugural Ted Goveia Football Operations Award, named after the former Hamilton Tiger-Cats general manager who died Sept. 12 of throat cancer at age 55.

The award will recognize club football operations personnel for outstanding achievement in scouting, player identification, roster building and leadership.
