Indian hotel developer and operator Chalet Hotels has entered the Udaipur market with the acquisition of Seasons Hotels, the owning entity of Inder Residency Resort & Spa Udaipur, for Rs1.71bn ($18.1m).
The move aligns with Chalet Hotels’ plan to expand within leisure destinations across India, with particular emphasis on premium positioning, asset enhancement, and long-term value generation.
The Inder Residency Resort & Spa Udaipur spans approximately 8.2 acres and features 144 rooms, extensive lawns, and banqueting facilities, rendering it suitable for weddings, meetings, incentives, conferences, exhibitions (MICE), and leisure stays.
Chalet Hotels plans to upgrade the non-operational property to an upper upscale or premium lifestyle destination.
The company will also explore expanding the resort and increasing the room inventory as part of the asset enhancement.
Chalet Hotels managing director and CEO Shwetank Singh said: “We are delighted to announce our entry into Rajasthan with the acquisition of this resort in Udaipur, a market we have been keen to enter.
“This investment reflects our continued focus on expanding in high-growth leisure destinations with strong long-term potential.
“The property is well-located and offers significant headroom for value creation through refurbishment, repositioning, and expansion.
“As we enhance and reposition the resort, our focus will be on creating a high-quality, experience-led destination that delivers both strong guest appeal and long-term value.”
Chalet Hotels currently owns, develops and manages 11 hotels and resorts with 3,389 keys, collaborating with brands such as JW Marriott, The Westin, and Novotel.
The company has approximately 1,510 rooms in its pipeline and recently launched the ATHIVA premium lifestyle brand.
Chalet Hotels is also expanding its commercial real estate portfolio, targeting an increase from 2.4 million square feet to 3.3 million square feet.
In June 2024, the operator announced plans to renovate a cluster of three properties across India.
The properties undergoing renovation included the international brand Four Points by Sheraton Navi Mumbai, and two independent hotels, namely The Resort at Madh Island Mumbai and The Dukes Retreat at Lonavala.
