Brewers starter Brandon Woodruff headed to IL again with inflamed labrum

The Milwaukee Brewers‘ starting pitcher is headed back to the injured list with an inflamed labrum for the second time this season, manager Pat Murphy told reporters following Saturday’s game.

Woodruff pitched 3.2 innings in the 4-3 loss to the Diamondbacks, but was pulled after his velocity plummeted.

The right-hander missed six weeks earlier this season with the same injury.

Woodruff has been limited to just eight starts this season, pitching to a 2.59 ERA and 0.84 WHIP.

The 33-year-old has made just 31 starts since 2023. He missed the entire 2024 season due to shoulder surgery and a good portion of 2025.

In 2021, Woodruff finished fifth in NL Cy Young voting. In that season, he had a 2.56 ERA and 0.965 WHIP in 30 starts.
