After taking care of business against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night, the San Antonio Spurs have been rewarded with a Western Conference Finals matchup against the reigning NBA champions, the Oklahoma City Thunder.
As expected, the Thunder are considered the favorites in the series against San Antonio, and for good reason.
As good as the Spurs were in a 62-win season, OKC has been a multi-year juggernaut in the NBA and there is no debate about which team is the best in the league.
That said, the Spurs have an opportunity to dethrone the Thunder in a series that will begin on Monday night in Oklahoma City.
The Thunder being favored in this series didn’t stop Air Corgi from making her prediction, and she’s marching to the beat of her own drum.
Air Corgi has the series going seven games, but with an upset that sees San Antonio advance to the NBA Finals against either the New York Knicks or Cleveland Cavaliers.
This result would certainly shake things up in the NBA, as the Thunder have long been considered the heavy favorite to repeat as champs.
It could also make for a more exciting NBA Finals.
The Knicks and Cavs probably have a better shot at beating the Spurs than the Thunder, and we’re confident in saying that even if OKC loses to San Antonio.
Breaking down Knicks vs. Cavs
In the Eastern Conference, the Knicks have been patiently waiting to see who their opponent would be after wiping the floor with the Philadelphia 76ers in the second round.
New York’s opponent was finally decided on Sunday night, when the Cavaliers embarrassed the Detroit Pistons in Game 7.
Speaking of embarrassing, that’s what the Knicks have been doing to their opponents over the last seven games.
New York has been on a generational run and is playing its best basketball of the season on both sides of the ball at the perfect time.
Meanwhile, the Cavs are very talented but about as inconsistent and unreliable as they come.
If both teams stay the course they’ve been on recently, the Knicks should advance past the Cavaliers.
New York and Cleveland will tip off at Madison Square Garden for Game 1 on Tuesday night.
