New York City made a very noticeable blunder when displaying New York Knicks jerseys on the City Hall building during the team’s NBA championship parade on Thursday morning.
City Hall is the landing spot for the Knicks’ championship parade, which runs from Battery Park and goes up through the Canyon of Heroes.
In advance of the celebration there, which will be hosted by Mayor Zohran Mamdani, New York City hung jersey banners to honor the players on the team.
One of the problems with the display was that they didn’t get Knicks forward Dillon Jones’ jersey number right.

The other problem was that they labeled him as No. 33, which we know was Patrick Ewing’s number — and that number has also been retired by the Knicks.
The correct jersey number for Jones would be No. 1, for the record.
Maybe we can give New York City a pass for getting Jones’ number wrong, seeing as how he barely played for the Knicks this season.

But giving him the number of one of the franchise legends is just completely unacceptable.

As expected, Knicks fans showed out in massive numbers for the parade on Thursday.
Viewing pens on the parade route were full multiple hours before the event began, according to the NYPD, and the MTA announced suspended bus service and stations being skipped entirely on the subway route in lower Manhattan.
It was believed this parade could be the largest ever in New York City history.
So far, it looks like that indeed might be the case.
