Instacart has acquired fulfilment and enablement solutions platform Instaleap to extend its enterprise retail technology offering across Europe, Latin America and the Middle East.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The deal is intended to bolster Instacart’s operations beyond North America and expedite the international expansion of its enterprise technology products.
Instaleap supplies fulfilment and enablement tools designed to help retailers run and expand online grocery services, including marketplace integrations and fulfilment capabilities.
The company operates in almost 30 countries across Europe, Latin America and the Middle East, and has links with close to 100 grocery retailers and marketplaces.
It includes Cencosud, Continente, Jerónimo Martins, Lulu and SPAR.
After the acquisition, Instaleap will continue operating as a wholly owned subsidiary of Instacart, a structure intended to provide continuity for its current retailer partners.
Instacart said it expects to roll out additional enterprise products to Instaleap’s customer base over time, covering e-commerce, connected stores, retail media, AI and data tools.
Instaleap CEO and co-founder Antonio dos Santos Nunes said: “This is an exciting moment for Instaleap and for the retailers we serve.
“We have built our platform with a deep focus on the unique needs of grocery retailers across diverse international markets. Joining Instacart enables us to scale our impact with the support of a trusted partner that shares our commitment to retailer success.”
Instacart’s enterprise portfolio includes Storefront Pro, which supports more than 380 retail banners, and Carrot Ads, which is used by over 310 retailers and partners.
It also includes Caper Carts, an AI-powered smart cart technology deployed internationally, and FoodStorm, an order management platform for in-store food preparation.
Instacart chief commercial officer Ryan Hamburger said: “We see a meaningful opportunity to expand internationally through an enterprise-led strategy that empowers retailers across the globe to meet the evolving omnichannel needs of their customers.
“With the addition of Instaleap’s technology, international expertise, and deep retail relationships, we can accelerate our international expansion and better serve retailers and consumers around the world.”
“Instacart acquires Instaleap to expand enterprise platform overseas” was originally created and published by Retail Insight Network, a GlobalData owned brand.
