Starbucks Dropped a Ton of New Items for February, So I Tried Them All

Working in media isn’t all glamorous. Some days, it’s staying up far too late to finish a story on deadline, wading through several hundred emails in your inbox, and nearly giving yourself carpal tunnel by typing for too long. On other days, I get to stroll over to my local Starbucks, order every single new item on the menu, and taste-test them all in the name of journalism. It is both my duty and my privilege—and it sure makes getting through the workday a lot more fun. So, when Starbucks came out with a whole new lineup of drinks and bakery items for February, I jumped at the chance to give them a try.

With fun new concoctions inspired by Valentine’s Day and fan-favorite flavors that have returned for good, there’s a whole lot to love about Starbucks’ latest menu additions. Here are all the new Starbucks drinks and bakery items for February, plus what’s worth adding to your next order.

What are the new Starbucks drinks for February?

I’m counting this colorful new lineup of Starbucks drinks as the first sign of spring. After months of leaning into nutty, spiced flavors (Chestnut Praline Latte, I’ll always love you), the new beverages all revolve around fruity flavors, including banana, strawberry, and raspberry. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Starbucks launched two adorably pink, strawberry-infused beverages: the White Chocolate Strawberry Cream Cold Brew and the Strawberry Shortcake Frappuccino. The new cold brew option is basically a white chocolate-covered strawberry in beverage form, with vanilla syrup-sweetened cold brew, white chocolate strawberry cold foam, and a sprinkling of chocolate curls on top. It’s sweet but not too sweet, and the pink creamy topping is just so cute. I could totally see myself ordering this one on the reg.

The new Strawberry Shortcake Frappuccino, on the other hand, tastes like dessert in a cup. It’s made with strawberry puree, cinnamon dolce syrup, whipped cream, and a caramel-sugar sprinkle on top. While the addition of cinnamon surprised me (does strawberry shortcake usually have cinnamon in it?), it was nevertheless delicious. Fruity, creamy, and pretty in pink and red, it’s a fun way to treat yourself for V-Day.

  • White Chocolate Strawberry Cream Cold Brew

On the matcha side of the menu, the Iced Double Berry Matcha is here to shake up your usual order. Made with strawberry puree, matcha, and raspberry cold foam, it’s layered with vibrant pinks and green, making it easily the prettiest drink in the bunch. And now that raspberry syrup is back on the menu for good, there’s no stopping me from adding that bright pink cold foam to any beverage I please.

As for the biggest surprise of the whole taste test? That honor goes to the Iced Banana Bread Matcha. I normally shy away from anything banana-flavored, but this drink had me coming back for sip after sip. I don’t know how they did it, but Starbucks perfectly nailed the sweet, comforting flavor of banana bread, which, as it turns out, goes great with matcha. Who knew?

What else is on the menu?

While Starbucks launched just a handful of new drinks for February, the bakery case is getting a whole revamp with several new globally inspired treats. Likely my favorite of all the items I tried was the Cookie Croissant Swirl, which is basically a croissant dotted with Oreo cookie crumbles and rolled up into a cinnamon roll-type shape. It would likely send an actual French person into a coma, but I, for one, ate it up. I was also a big fan of the Berry Blondie, which was soft, chewy, and similar to a berry cobbler in flavor.

  • Chocolate Pistachio Loaf
  • Cookie Croissant Swirl
  • Dubai Chocolate Bite
  • Strawberry Matcha Loaf
  • Yuzu Citrus Blossom

Starbucks is also capitalizing on the Dubai chocolate craze with a new bite-sized treat and a marbled loaf cake featuring chocolate and pistachio flavors. Although the Dubai Chocolate Bite looks like a brownie bite, the texture is more like a crumbly piece of fudge. The creamy pistachio filling does offer a nice contrast, but the chocolate was a little overpowering for me. If you’re craving that flavor combo, the Chocolate Pistachio Loaf is a better choice IMO. I love a Starbucks loaf as a general rule, and the new Strawberry Matcha flavor also did not disappoint. I was less enthused about the Yuzu Citrus Blossom, which has a pretty strong floral undertone to the citrusy filling, but those with a more adventurous palate may enjoy it more.

While the Chocolate Pistachio Loaf will only be available for a limited time this winter, the rest of these new treats are here to stay year-round.
