Review: Our Book Club Loves B.K. Borison, but Did ‘And Now, Back to You’ Live up to Our High Expectations?
For The Everygirl Book Club’s first foray into romance, we knew it couldn’t be just any sweet rom-com. It had to be a romance so great that our readers would quite literally be giggling and kicking their feet while reading. There is no shortage of romance authors who can make you swoon, but for March, we wanted to bring in the big guns—B.K. Borison. And what perfect timing that her latest release, And Now, Back to You, just hit shelves?
For the past four weeks, we’ve been living in Jackson and Delilah’s world, and boy, has it been fabulous. I mean, longing glances, cuddling in snowstorms, ’90s rom-com charm, and maybe even a new number one book boyfriend? It’s safe to say we all loved And Now, Back to You. Here is The Everygirl Book Club’s full review, plus everything else you missed during our hour-long book gossip sesh (AKA our monthly meeting).
What is And Now, Back to You about?
Two competing meteorologists are forced to find common ground in this opposites attract, When Harry Met Sally inspired romance, from #1 New York Times bestselling author B.K. Borison.
If the words “enemies-to-lovers” or “forced proximity” get your heart racing, you’re going to be locked into And Now, Back to You. Jackson Clark and Delilah Stewart are rival meteorologists whose run-ins always end in disaster. Jackson loves the structure and organization of the radio booth, while Delilah thrives on spontaneity and field reporting. When they’re paired up to cover an unprecedented snowstorm, Delilah knows she needs to ace the assignment, so she comes up with a plan: If Jackson helps her with coverage, she’ll teach him how to tap into his fun side. But there’s chemistry simmering beneath the surface—and it just might ruin their newly discovered friendship.
The Everygirl Book Club’s review of And Now, Back to You
One thing nearly everyone echoed during our book club meeting is how And Now, Back to You recreates the charm of a classic ’90s rom-com. It will transport you back to the era of Nancy Meyers and Nora Ephron, and every page is brimming with cozy nostalgia. Jackson and Delilah’s story is inspired by When Harry Met Sally, after all, so it only makes sense that it fits in perfectly with the rom-com greats. From the enemies-to-lovers arc and witty banter to the road trip antics, Jackson and Delilah are a modern-day Harry and Sally. Some book club members may even love them more than the originals.
Part of the reason all of our readers loved And Now, Back to You so much is that the characters felt layered and complex. Jackson and Delilah both have distinct backstories and histories. This allows us to understand who they are today and why they’re so good together in a relationship. It didn’t feel like B.K. Borison was inventing random roadblocks to keep them from getting their happy ending. However, some readers did feel like their backstories so perfectly mirroring each other, with absent mothers and unmentioned fathers, was a little…convenient. That didn’t stop anyone from swooning when Jacksona and Delilah were together, though.

And it isn’t just Jackson and Delilah who are fully fledged characters—the cast of hilarious side characters is written with their own identities and motivations. No one feels like they’re there solely for laughs or to move the plot along. Our book club loved that we were able to analyze the side characters and imagine who we’d want to get their own story in the interconnected book series.
While I could wax poetic about everything The Everygirl Book Club loved about And Now, Back to You, what we could not stop talking about was the banter and tension. Forced proximity is always the perfect backdrop for a romance that gives you butterflies, as the characters are pushed together and have to confront their feelings. And that was definitely true for this read. Banter is hard to nail in a romance novel. Dialogue can easily come across as overly written or unrealistic, but with Jackson and Delilah, the conversations felt so real. It’s the kind of book that will have you laughing out loud one minute, then crying the next with the raw, real emotions B.K. Borison pours into the novel.
However, some readers wished we had gotten even more of that banter through dual timelines, letting us see what Delilah and Jackson were like together before their assignment. The entire book only takes place over a couple of weeks, and readers were mourning all the “scathing” parking lot notes and hilarious “enemies” moments we could have gotten before the lovers part kicked in. While some wished they had even more time with the characters, no one could deny the sweetness of their relationship.
So, should you read And Now, Back to You?
If you ask The Everygirl Book Club, the answer is a resounding yes—you should absolutely read And Now, Back to You. In fact, while you’re at it, grab First Time Caller, the first book in the Heartstring series, and pre-order Longtime Listener, the upcoming third book in the interconnected world. It’s safe to say B.K. Borison just gained plenty of readers who will now buy anything she writes. Though I will warn you, her most dedicated fans still preferred First Time Caller over And Now, Back to You. Whether you’re a sucker for a classic rom-com or usually opt for something higher stakes, run to your library to grab a copy of And Now, Back to You and its predecessor, First Time Caller.

Like every good book club, our meetings strike the perfect balance between staying on topic and diving into plenty of bookish tangents. I mean, that’s part of the fun, right? I left with about 10 new books added to my TBR that the girlies were raving about, and of course, I offered plenty of suggestions of my own.
The books we read may change every month, but the one constant in every The Everygirl Book Club meeting is a group of women eager to find community through our shared love of reading. Yes, it’s a place to discuss our monthly pick, but it’s also a space where you can take an hour and a half for yourself. It’s a room where you can truly be yourself, geeking out over your recent reads, and take a much-needed break from the chaos of life outside of our Zoom.
