Our Ranking of Every Song on ‘Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally’

Almost four years ago, Harry Styles gave us the masterpiece that is the Grammy-winning Harry’s House. That album, like the two before it, has been on a constant loop in my house ever since. But in the last four years, I’ve had plenty of time to yearn for new Harry music. Then, this January, I stepped away from my phone for five minutes, only to come back to 50 text messages screaming, “NEW HARRY ALBUM!!!!!” Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally is Harry’s long-awaited fourth album, and it’s here.

When your favorite artist comes out with a new album, it’s kind of like when your best friend is pregnant (stay with me). You already love them, but this big change makes you a little anxious… will you like the new baby? Will anything ever be the same? And I have to say, when this album’s first single, “Aperture” came out, I was a little unsure. It took a while to grow on me. It was a whole new direction—one that the girl who stood in her butterfly hair clips and feather boa at Love on Tour (twice) wasn’t quite accustomed to yet.

Once I wrapped my head around the fact that this album would be a little less driving down PCH in a vintage convertible and a little more I wish I was wearing a glitter mini skirt at a club in the 70s, I warmed up to the first single. And I did preorder the vinyl, so I’m investing $40 in being impressed by the rest of the album.

Below, dive into our honest, unfiltered ranking and thoughts on Harry Styles’ Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally.

Our Official Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally Ranking

12. “Season 2 Weight Loss”

Jess: 3.5/5

I just know Harry was having so much fun with the synth on this song. This feels like a little break for a jam session with his music producer friends. I think the constant drumbeat was an interesting touch. It’s not my fave, but I can appreciate the production.

Abi: 2/5

File this under good background music. Had the potential to be devastating and didn’t quite get there for me. Still good listening music

Caitlin: 1/5

Snoooooooze. This is a skip for me. Such an interesting title with no payoff.

11. “The Waiting Game”

Jess: 3/5

OK, ouch? I can’t help but think that whoever this is about needs therapy—and TBH, maybe Harry does too. I don’t see myself playing this on repeat, but I definitely don’t hate it.

Abi: 3/5

This might be the most chill way to absolutely read someone to filth I’ve ever seen.

Caitlin: 2/5

I’m going to start calling people a “dirty clown.”

10. “Are You Listening Yet?”

Jess: 2.5/5

I’m bopping my head. This is kinda giving 2000s alt-pop diva. I’m scared of the way Harry said “dancing.” I like the guitar, but overall, I think this leaves a little to be desired.

Abi: 3.5/5

My notes app from the first listen of this one says, “never been called out in such a groovy way.” Feels like a sister song to aperture melodically, and I rock with it.

Caitlin: 2/5

The talk-singing immediately reminded me of the Wolf Alice song “Don’t Delete The Kisses,” which is a song I love, but I’m not sure this style is working for Harry. Don’t love how it then leads into a chanting-esque chorus. Lyrics are great though: “if you must join a movement, make sure there’s dancing.” I agree!

9. “Taste Back”

Jess: 3.5/5

This is a perfect cooking-dinner song. I love the chorus. And the music between the last verse and chorus has the slightest reminiscence of the Twilight soundtrack, no?

Abi: 3/5

I have no complaints, and I also don’t have a ton to say. I much prefer the chorus to the verses.

Caitlin: 3/5

This is kinda middle of the road for me, but I like it! Nothing super interesting is going on here, which feels very apparent after the first four songs, which all feel really unique. Chorus is very pleasant—could easily have this playing in the background of life.

8. “Paint By Numbers”

Jess: 3.5/5

Oh my lil’ Harry, I want to give you a hug. It is slightly out of place on the album, but I love it anyway. And Harry said in an interview that he wanted to keep it on the album because it lets fans in on his life in an honest way, which I think is a great perspective for an artist to have. It’s less about making an album seem “cohesive,” and more about putting out what you want to share with your fans.

Abi: 4/5

While this feels slightly out of place on the album, I am not complaining because I love it. I can’t wait to dramatically stare out the window while I listen to it.

Caitlin: 2/5

These lyrics are too wholesome for me because, again, my brain is broken. Good, chill background music though. Just not a favorite.

7. “Dance No More”

Jess: 4/5

OMG, more bass. He was having so much fun with this one, too. I just know it. I’m bopping my head, I like it. Also, DJs should dance more! I want this to be in an artsy A24 movie set in the ‘70s, real bad.

Abi: 4/5

Fun, funky, got a little groove going. Extra points because yeah! Respect your mother!

Caitlin: 4/5

This is the kind of song I expected on an album called “Kiss All The Time, Disco, Occasionally.” The beginning caught me off guard, but I love it more and more every time I listen. I just know this is going to be a BLAST to watch live—if only I could get tickets to this god-forsaken concert.

6. “Pop”

Jess: 4/5

Did anyone else see Brittany Broski react to this during her interview with Harry? Based on her reaction, I’ve been waitin’ for this one. Crazy fun bass line. This makes me think of those Apple commercials where they dance through the streets, and you know what? I’d like to do that to this song.

Abi: 5/5

LOVE. I can’t wait to blast this on the first kinda warm spring day while I bop around my neighborhood and don’t resist the urge to spin in the middle of the sidewalk. I also anticipate it making the “bribing myself to clean by dancing while I’m doing it” playlist.

Caitlin: 4/5

This has the most similar sound to “Harry’s House” (made me think of the song “Cinema”), so it feels very familiar in a great way! So catchy, and a lot of fun production stuff is going on in the background.

5. “Ready, Steady, Go!”

Jess: 4.5/5

I actually said “woahhhh” out loud at one point. Like Caitlin, I am obsessed with the piano. I’m also a sucker for a good bass line, and this one delivers.

Abi: 4.5/5

I said “OK fun!” out loud, and I stand by that. Seriously, so fun and satisfying to listen to, even if I can’t perfectly articulate why.

Caitlin: 4/5

Energy is outrageous! Obsessed with the chaotic piano bridge.

4. “American Girls”

Jess: 5/5

MAJOR BOP! I know this one will go triple platinum in my house. I was already dancing on first listen. The chorus, particularly “I’ve known you for ages/ it’s all that I’ve heard/ My friends are in love with American girls,” scratches my brain real good.

Abi: 3/5

Loveee what’s happening musically here, and that jump into the chorus?? Obsessed. Gonna be the odd duck out here and say I don’t think this is going on repeat for me. But a bop nonetheless.

Caitlin: 5/5

I’m an American girl, Harry!!!! The production of this song is sooo good. Chorus comes in HOT, and I love that. Will be listening to this nonstop.

3. “Coming Up Roses”

Jess: 5/5

I’m a sucker for strings!!! Caitlin is right—this is so Bridgerton. It’s heartbreaking, but in the best way. File the lyrics in the same category as “All I Ask” by Adele, which is one of my all-time favorite songs. I’d love an angry version.

Abi: 5/5

Need a La La Land-esque montage (perfect clips of soul mates but they’re doomed!) to this song immediately. Also, OK orchestra!!

Caitlin: 3.5/5

Really love the orchestral switch-up here. The instrumental break is stunning, as are Harry’s vocals! My brain is so broken, though, that I instantly thought of damn Hyacinth Bridgerton doing her little recital dance to this.

2. “Aperture”

Jess: 4/5

I’ve been kind of back and forth on “Aperture.” At first, I wasn’t sure how to feel. But I do feel like the context of the rest of the album made me appreciate it more. I love that as a single, it provided a clear picture of the pivot Harry was taking with this album, and how he’s really just having fun with it.

Abi: 4.5/5

Big fan! Unfortunately chose to rank this one last, so I’m running out of words and coherent thoughts. Wish we got a little more of this vibe!

Caitlin: 5/5

I’ve had this on repeat since it came out, and it holds up as the strongest song on this album. It gives major LCD Soundsystem energy, which is one of my go-to bands when I take long walks, ignore everyone around me, and just vibe out.

1. “Carla’s Song”

Jess: 5/5

Love. This feels very in line with the Harry music we all know and love—it’s similar to “As It Was” in some ways. This makes me feel like the world is my oyster and I can do literally whatever I want. It can totally be a manifestation anthem. OK Carla!!!

Abi: 4/5

A beautiful, feel-good way to close the album. I love the tempo, I love the sentiment, I love the way it captures the feeling of being really known by someone, and the hope of how much there always is to discover in the world.

Caitlin: 5/5

I knew 30 seconds in on my first listen that I would love this song. It just has that vibeeeee. Beautiful lyrics. Harry singing “call it what you wanna” gives me chills. I want to blast this in my apartment and dance around. But, who tf is Carla?
