Bradley Chubb’s heading to Buffalo. The veteran pass rusher agreed to a three-year deal with the Bills worth $43.5 million – potentially reaching $52.5 million with incentives – including $29 million guaranteed, his agent Erik Burkhardt told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Miami made it official Wednesday, releasing Chubb and clearing the way for him to join their AFC East rival.
It’s become a pattern for Buffalo. They brought in Joey Bosa last year looking to boost their pass rush (he managed five sacks before hitting free agency). Now they’re betting on Chubb to deliver more consistent pressure off the edge.
Chubb played all 17 games for the Dolphins in 2025, leading the team with 8.5 sacks. He was a captain and earned the local media’s “Good Guy” award for how accessible and professional he was with reporters throughout the season.
The Dolphins gave up a first-round pick to Denver back in 2022 to get Chubb, then immediately locked him up with a five-year, $110 million extension. He delivered in 2023 with 11 sacks – his second double-digit season – before suffering a brutal knee injury in Week 17 that tore his ACL, meniscus and patellar tendon.
The Numbers Tell a Story
His 10.5% pressure rate last season was actually the third-best mark of his career.
But here’s where it gets complicated. Opposing offenses doubled him on a career-high 23.1% of his pass rushes, which tanked his pass rush win rate to a career-low 7.8%. Teams clearly respected his ability – they just schemed around it.
Beyond the on-field production, Miami was staring at a $31 million cap hit for 2026. Chubb turns 30 in June, and he’s now torn the ACL in both knees during his eight NFL seasons. That’s a lot of red flags for a team trying to manage its salary cap.
The Broncos took him fifth overall in 2018, and he’s racked up 48 career sacks across stops in Denver, Miami and now Buffalo. Whether he can stay healthy enough to make an impact for a Bills team with Super Bowl aspirations remains the biggest question.
