Messages poured in after Chris Paul announced his retirement from the NBA. The veteran point guard didn’t have the best final season, as he was involved in controversy with the Los Angeles Clippers.
The Clippers sent him home after playing only 16 games. Reports of disagreements with the coaching staff followed the so-called “Point God.” Paul received plenty of tributes after announcing his retirement, including one from the Clippers.

His wife, Jada Paul (née Crawley), didn’t appreciate it. She posted a two-word comment under the Clips’ Instagram post.
“Girl, bye,” Jada Paul commented.
Chris Paul shared a lengthy message to thank all the people who supported him during his 21-year run.
“This is it! After over 21 years I’m stepping away from basketball,” Paul wrote on Instagram. “As I write this, it’s hard to really know what to feel, but for once—most people would be surprised—I don’t have the answer lol! But, mostly I’m filled with so much joy and gratitude! While this chapter of being an ‘NBA player’ is done, the game of basketball will forever be engrained in the DNA of my life.”

Chris Paul was one of the best players in Clippers history

Despite playing only 16 games in the 2025-26 NBA season, Chris Paul will go down as one of the best players in the Los Angeles Clippers history. While he couldn’t win a championship during his first tenure (2011-17), he gave fans a show night in and night out with Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan.
In 425 games with the Clips, Paul averaged 18.2 points, 9.6 assists and 4.1 rebounds. He became one of the best players without an NBA ring, but nobody can deny his impact on the game and this particular franchise.
