6 Spring Home Trends You Can Try Now and Keep Loving All Year Long

Spring is undoubtedly a season of change. As the world outside thaws out from winter and turns green again, it’s only natural to want to recreate that sense of renewal indoors, too. And while experimenting with a new trend can be fun any time of the year, it feels especially fitting to try something new with your furniture or decor in the spring. After a long winter spent mostly indoors, I’m always itching to switch things up as the weather gets warmer. To keep up with what’s currently trending, I spend a lot of time scrolling social media, keeping up with interior designers, and browsing home retailers, and there are a few themes I keep seeing on repeat everywhere I look. So, in the spirit of refreshing your home ahead of warmer weather, these are the spring home trends to try this season for a new look.

1. Ruffled details

This trend has been floating around for a while now, but as spring approaches, ruffles are currently everywhere. Perfect for anyone who loves the grandmillennial aesthetic, this decorative treatment brings a playful, feminine edge to all sorts of furniture and accessories. Try out this wavy trend on throw pillows, vases, bedding, or even seating to add some whimsy to your home this spring.

2. Gingham

Gingham is one of those patterns that seems to crop back up every spring. It just feels so playful and fresh—the perfect energy to bring into spring. I especially love this pattern in soft pastel or neutral tones. Think less picnic blanket red, more butter yellow, baby blue, beige, and jade green. Throw pillows and bedding are obvious (and easy) ways to bring in this pattern, but you could also add a pop of gingham to picture frame matting, table linens, curtains, and furniture.

3. Tone-on-tone stripes

Stripes are a classic year-round, but lately, I’ve been seeing a fun twist on this timeless pattern in the form of bold, tone-on-tone color combinations. On items like throw pillows, table linens, or even furniture, colorful stripes add a sense of playfulness that’s fully in line with the maximalist trend taking over this year. I especially love this look with colors that don’t necessarily go together—like lavender and bright green—or with two different shades of the same hue.

4. Spindle furniture

For a long time, furniture trends have been dominated by the sleek lines and flared legs of midcentury modern style. Blame it on the cottagecore craze or the recent trend toward vintage designs, but a much more traditional style is now making its way to the forefront. I keep seeing wood spindle furniture at retailers ranging from Anthropologie to Crate & Barrel, and I’m fully obsessed. This Victorian-era furniture style is characterized by turned legs shaped like a series of balls or beads, and it adds an antique flair to pieces including chairs, accent tables, nightstands, and more. And with a few hundred years of history backing it up, you know it’s the kind of trend with staying power.

5. Tablescape art

I love a moody landscape print as much as the next art lover, but as spring approaches, switching those out for something more colorful only feels fitting. Lately, I’ve been loving still life art that depicts tablescapes—like a scene pulled from a dinner party. These pieces are often brightly colored, featuring elements like wine glasses, dishware, fruit, and other food items. They’re playful and fun, perfect for injecting some life and color into your walls.

6. Cordless table lamps

I’m convinced that adding a lamp can make any room feel cozier, but I especially love using lamps in unexpected places like kitchen countertops, bookshelves, and coffee tables. Making that easier is the abundance of cordless table lamps now on the market. With no need for a nearby outlet or clunky cord, these cute little lamps are so versatile and make fun accessories wherever you could use some extra light.
