In 2025, Olivia Dean—through both her music and her style—made us feel soft, pretty, and seen for the lover girls we are. Her second studio album, The Art of Loving, became the soundtrack to our fall and quietly turned into a mantra for how many of us wanted to live our lives whilst processing our thickest emotions.
I, personally, spent many a park day last year painting flowers, romanticizing the swaying of the trees, and letting her voice hum in the background as a gentle reminder to slow down. So, when I finally sat down and watched a few of her performances on YouTube, I realized it wasn’t just her voice that made her feel so warm and relatable. It was her style too.
There’s a whimsicality to the elevated and feminine essence Dean presents that makes you want to lean in closer. It’s soft but intentional. Romantic without being precious. Effortless but never boring. It’s the kind of style that doesn’t scream for attention but still, somehow, holds the room.
And in this era of my life, where I’m inviting in bold notes of divine femininity and radical belief that I can manifest the life that I want, I’ve been pinning her outfits nonstop. I keep telling myself, “One day I’m going to recreate this look,” and then… the day never comes. Life gets loud. The world feels heavy. The mood board stays aspirational.
So during the Grammy’s last week, I found myself crying to her acceptance speech and asking the question: What is it about Olivia Dean’s style that makes it so easy to love? I know I can’t be the only one obsessed. Below, I’m sharing seven looks that I actually plan on recreating this year.
In the Studio Workwear
My toxic trait is that I genuinely believe if I booked time in a recording studio and showed up dressed like this, I too would create a Grammy-winning album. Unfortunately for the world, we may never know that reality—though not because I’m without this ‘fit.
What I love about this look is how deceptively comfortable it is. It looks like she could sit cross-legged in that chair, but still get up and command the room. It’s relaxed tailoring at its best. Structured enough to be taken seriously and soft enough to breathe in. The kind of outfit you could wear to the office and be the best-dressed person there without sacrificing circulation or comfort.
Olivia Dean is a professional at wearing basics without looking basic. The silhouette is familiar and dawns foundational pieces, but her proportions are elevated with quiet confidence. It’s put together without being stiff and intentional without being overworked. And somehow, even in a recording studio, she manages to look editorial.
The Warm Weather Blueprint
It is currently below 30 degrees in New York City, and I would like to formally announce that I am emotionally unavailable until we break 60. I need the birds and the tulips. I need my ankles out. But mostly? I need this outfit.
Dean’s white tiered skirt paired with a slinky black top is the definition of warm-weather ease. It’s simple. It’s unfussy. Yet somehow, on her, it becomes a fashion statement. I literally have a white, tiered, maxi skirt in storage just waiting for this moment. Add a pair of Sambas—ideally purchased on sale because fiscal responsibility is part of my divine femininity era—and suddenly we’re back outside.
What I love about this formula is how versatile it is. Farmers markets, casual brunches, window shopping trips… it’s the kind of look that feels romantic without being precious.
The Colorful Travel Outfit
Courtesy of her Instagram diaries, we got a dreamy glimpse into Olivia Dean’s travels around Asia—and her style throughout. Honestly? I don’t just need this outfit, I need this view!
The waterfall. The soft smile. The silly sweater moment paired with shoes that say, “I travel comfortably but also chic.” I found the exact sweater she’s wearing and, yes, it’s pricey. And yes, it’s also sold out. But the beauty of this look is that it translates just as well with other more affordable knits, if you’re ballin’ on a budget like me.
This look has solidified its spot at the top of my moodboard because I will take any opportunity to wear my Rothy’s.
Red Carpet (Or Date Night) Chic
This might be my favorite look on this list. Period. Olivia Dean stopped traffic at the Gucci SS25 Fashion Show in this soft pastel skirt paired with a neon sweater, anchored by burgundy heels and a matching color Gucci bag. The color story is doing the heavy lifting and I’m not mad at it.
It’s classy, feminine, and artsy. Very “lady-lady” but with an edge. Her stylists knew exactly what they were doing here.
Model Off-Duty Vibes
At this point we may have to crown Olivia the queen of the sleeveless black top. But unlike the soft, cutesy skirt moment above, this version leans edgy. It’s less farmers market and more “go-see”. Less picnic blanket and more “I just left a fitting and now I’m late to a studio session.”
This all-black situation is doing exactly what it needs to do. A fitted top paired with slouchy trousers that hang just right—slightly above or below the waist depending on your mood—gives that “model off duty” energy without trying too hard.
For my fellow New Yorkers who default to black, this is a masterclass in making monochrome feel intentional instead of safe. For those that live somewhere more color-forward, this is a great way to stand out by being clean, sharp, and grown.
Dressed Up in Monochrome
At the beginning of her press run for The Art of Loving, Olivia stopped by BBC’s The One show in what I’d consider the ultimate winter “go-to but elevated” look: a tight, slinky, long-sleeve top paired with a sparkly statement skirt and coordinating pump.
A long sleeve and long skirt is already a classic formula, but adding texture and shimmer is what pushes it into it-girl territory without feeling like you’re doing too much. This is understated glam at its best. Perfect for drinks with the girls, winter birthday dinners, or even a wedding rehearsal dinner when it’s cold out, but you still want to feel cute and like you tried.
The Concert Uniform
One true hallmark of a fashion icon is being able to look back at an outfit of theirs from years ago and still wanting to wear it today. That’s exactly how I feel about this little black dress and sassy boot combo from her 2023 performance at The Dive in Los Angeles.
The limit does not exist when it comes to the number of ways you can style a little black dress, but what makes this one stand out is how she plays with proportions: high neckline, short hemline, knee-high boots. The rule of thirds, executed perfectly. And the boots aren’t just an accessory. They’re an art piece. Olivia Dean’s style makes whimsy sexy. Iconic.
