AWS Launches New AI Factories to Transform Customer Infrastructure into High-Performance AI Environments

As governments and large enterprises accelerate their adoption of artificial intelligence, many are turning to the idea of an “AI factory” a centralized, high-performance environment capable of training, deploying, and scaling AI systems while meeting strict sovereignty and compliance requirements. But building such infrastructure independently requires enormous capital, extensive expertise, and years of planning.

To address these barriers, Amazon Web Services (AWS) has introduced AWS AI Factories, a new offering that deploys dedicated, full-stack AWS AI infrastructure directly inside a customer’s own data center. The service delivers the same compute, storage, networking, and AI capabilities found in AWS Regions — but with local control and data residency tailored to organizations with highly regulated workloads.

What AWS AI Factories Provide

AWS AI Factories

AWS AI Factories combine the latest advancements in AI computing with AWS’s mature cloud capabilities, creating a turnkey environment for enterprises seeking to scale AI rapidly and securely. Each Factory includes:

  • State-of-the-art AI accelerators, such as NVIDIA’s newest GPU platforms and AWS’s Trainium and Inferentia chips

  • High-bandwidth, low-latency networking modeled after AWS’s internal designs

  • High-performance storage and databases optimized for large-scale model training

  • Comprehensive AI services, including Amazon Bedrock for foundation models and Amazon SageMaker for building, training, and deploying custom models

  • End-to-end security, management, and monitoring, aligned with AWS’s most stringent standards

  • Energy-efficient infrastructure for sustainable AI growth

The result is a private, full-stack AI environment that functions like a dedicated AWS Region inside the customer’s own facility, providing both control and scalability without requiring customers to build everything from scratch.

Solving AI Infrastructure Bottlenecks for Regulated Sectors

Many public-sector agencies and regulated enterprises face significant challenges when deploying AI at scale:

  • Massive capital investment needed for GPUs, high-density compute racks, and energy infrastructure

  • Long procurement cycles for specialized hardware

  • Complex decision-making about model selection, licensing, and integration

  • Regulatory constraints dictating where data can be stored, processed, or transmitted

These obstacles often create multi-year delays and force organizations to divert resources away from their core missions.

AWS AI Factories eliminate these barriers by delivering a fully managed, turnkey environment operated exclusively for the customer. They enable organizations to:

  • Scale AI quickly using infrastructure built by AWS

  • Maintain full sovereignty and compliance by keeping data local

  • Access the latest foundation models without individual licensing negotiations

  • Use their existing data-center real estate and power investments

  • Get secure, low-latency access to AWS compute, storage, and AI services

Backed by nearly two decades of cloud leadership and extensive experience designing hyperscale AI systems, AWS claims it can deploy this infrastructure faster than most organizations can build it themselves, saving years of engineering effort.

AWS and NVIDIA Deepen Partnership to Boost AI Adoption

The launch of AWS AI Factories expands a 15-year partnership between AWS and NVIDIA — a collaboration that began with the industry’s first GPU-powered cloud instance. AWS now offers the broadest selection of GPU-based infrastructure for enterprise and scientific workloads, and AI Factories bring this capability on-premises.

Through the NVIDIA–AWS integration, customers gain:

Looking ahead, AWS plans to support NVIDIA NVLink Fusion, enabling extremely high-speed chip-to-chip communication in future AWS chips such as Trainium4 and Graviton processors.

Ian Buck, NVIDIA’s Vice President and General Manager of Hyperscale and HPC, emphasized the significance of the collaboration:

“Large-scale AI requires a full-stack approach. Together with AWS, we’re delivering advanced GPUs, high-performance networking, and optimized AI software directly into customers’ environments.”

Accelerating AI Adoption in the Public Sector

AWS designed AI Factories to meet the company’s most rigorous security standards, enabling governments to run mission-critical and classified workloads at all sensitivity levels — from Unclassified to Top Secret.

Public-sector organizations gain:

  • High availability and resilience

  • Strict control over data flow and residency

  • Compliance with national and international regulatory frameworks

  • Access to advanced AI tools without compromising security

One of the most ambitious government-aligned deployments will take place in Saudi Arabia, where AWS and NVIDIA are partnering with HUMAIN, a global AI company building a next-generation infrastructure ecosystem.

AWS will help build a first-of-its-kind “AI Zone” in the country, featuring:

  • Up to 150,000 AI chips, including NVIDIA GB300 GPUs

  • Dedicated AWS AI infrastructure

  • Full AWS AI services and orchestration

  • HUMAIN’s custom-designed data-center facilities

Tareq Amin, CEO of HUMAIN, underscored the scale of the initiative:

“This AI factory is the foundation of a multi-gigawatt journey for HUMAIN and AWS. We chose AWS because of their experience at scale, their reliability, and their commitment to the region. Together, we’re creating an ecosystem that will redefine how AI is built and deployed globally.”

A New Model for Global AI Infrastructure

With AI projects becoming larger, more complex, and increasingly regulated, AWS AI Factories represent a fundamental shift in how organizations deploy advanced AI infrastructure. Rather than building costly, multi-year systems on their own, customers can now bring hyperscale AI capability directly into their existing data centers — backed by AWS’s expertise, NVIDIA’s computing power, and a secure, compliant foundation.

In an era where AI is quickly becoming core to government services, national competitiveness, and enterprise innovation, AWS AI Factories offer a powerful new model for accelerating adoption while maintaining control, sovereignty, and performance.
