Kevin Hart admits Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s joke caught him ‘off guard’ during ‘brutal’ roast

Kevin Hart admitted that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s joke at the “Roast of Kevin Hart” caught him “off guard.”
During an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Wednesday, the “Think Like a Man” actor said he was a little taken aback by the professional wrestler’s joke about Hart’s late dad, Henry Robert Witherspoon.
“I think the one that caught me off guard, Dwayne,” Hart, 46, told host Jimmy Kimmel, 58, when asked if any of the jokes on the Netflix special “hurt.”
“Dwayne had the picture of my father and he had a mug shot of my dad and he goes, ‘Look at my dad. Kev, we both love our dads,’” the “Ride Along” star recalled.
Hart said Johnson, 54, showed a picture of his dad, late wrestler Rocky Johnson, “in shape, you know, coming from the gym.”
However, when the “Moana” actor showed a photo of Witherspoon, Hart said it “was the worst picture of my father I’ve ever seen.”
“The worst picture of my father. It caught me off guard, but it was funny,” he explained of the image, which was of a shirtless Witherspoon sitting down.
“Anything done with the effort of giving a laugh, I’m always going to give it the benefit of the doubt. All the stuff said about me, you know, I’m like, look, it is what it is. They’re jokes at the end of the day.”
