Queen would be upset over Meghan Markle’s outfit promotion

Some sources close to the royal family are aghast that Meghan Markle is using her Australian charity stops with Prince Harry to shill clothing.

“The Queen must be rolling over in her grave,” says one aristocratic source.

The Duchess of Sussex launched a page on fashion platform OneOff, which allows users to shop her wardrobe, during the tour. An investor in the site, she also reportedly receives a percentage of the sales.

On Friday, an image of the fleeting royal smiling while meeting with survivors of the antisemitic terror attack on Bondi Beach that left 15 people dead was posted on the site promoting her outfit, according to royal reporter Tom Sykes’ Substack. (Matteau Classic Stripe Shirt, $440, Rolla’s Sailor Jeans, $139, PJ Femme sweater, $670, and Freda Salvador sneakers, $298)

“I find this sickening,” Sykes wrote.

The image was removed the same day and replaced with a picture of the “Suits” star on a street in the same look.

A spokesperson for Markle tells us: “Meghan wore that outfit all day during daytime hours yesterday, including times when she was enjoying Sydney and on [a] boating trip. OneOff does sometimes pull [images of stars] from Getty, but Meghan’s team has been working closely with them to make sure they’re using approved photography and correcting as needed.”

When the “As Ever” entrepreneur launched her page earlier in the week, it included an image of her meeting with kids who suffer from cancer and other serious conditions at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne. (Priscilla Dress by Karen Gee RTW, $1,250, Puffy Hearts stud earrings by Real Fine Studio, $780, and iridescent leather pumps by Christian Dior, $120).

“The Queen would have a good amount of grace about them earning their way,” our source told Page Six. “But the idea that these terminally ill children have come out to greet you because you’re a member of the royal family and hours later you’re promoting your ‘hospital look’ for money. The Queen never would have imagined this could happen because it’s just basic human decency.”

The former royals have made a number of stops on their trip down under.

Fans paid upward of $3,199 to see Meghan Markle and others at a women’s weekend retreat in Sydney on Friday, with the Duchess of Sussex attending for two hours. VIP guests could take a group photo at a table with her.

The former royal was reportedly paid $150,000 to appear at the event, according to the Daily Mail.

The couple also visited with veteran families at the Australian National Veterans’ Art Museum. (St. Agni Suede Ultitly Cocoon Bomber, $1000, PJ Femme Annie Top, $220, St Agni Suede Column Skirt Khaki, $890, Real Fine Studio Signature Studs $990.)

Markle also stopped by the McAuley Community Services for Women. Harry visited the Movember HQ in Melbourne and the couple also attended a reception for Invictus Australia.

Queen Elizabeth II died on September 8, 2022, at 96.
