Teen Mom alum Jenelle Evans is assuring fans that her 16-year-old son Jace is in good hands.
“I’ll let you know something that I haven’t told anyone,” Evans, 34, shared on the Monday, April 13, episode of the “La Femme Talk” podcast. “You know I’ve been very quiet online, and behind the scenes, I’ve been actually getting help for my son as needed, and he’s in a safe place [in a] holistic approach.”
Evans — who shares Jace with ex Andrew Lewis, Kaiser, 11, with ex Nathan Griffith, and Ensley, 9, with David Eason — added that her oldest child is “very happy right now” and “very focused on himself.”
“I think that’s the most important thing,” she told podcast host Dr. Rachel Mason. “A lot of people, they think since I’m being so quiet that I might not be doing anything and not taking action. But just know that if I’m quiet, I’m up to something.”
Last month, news broke that Jenelle’s mother, Barbara Evans, filed for emergency custody of Jace after the teen allegedly pulled a gun on his relatives in February. (Jace was living with Barbara in North Carolina at the time, while Jenelle is based in Las Vegas with her younger two children.)
Although Barbara’s motion was ultimately denied, Lewis started a GoFundMe page to raise money for “medical and legal” expenses for his son.
“We — Jace’s father and grandmother — are trying everything we can to bring him home to his grandma’s house to live, but are currently facing massive medical and legal expenses to do so,” Lewis claimed on the crowdfunding initiative. “During the last month, people who are concerned and care for Jace have reached out to ask how they can help us in our fight for Jace, leading us to create this fundraiser. Anything left over will be for his future medical needs.”
In response to the GoFundMe, Jenelle released a statement to Us Weekly calling the page a “scam.”
“My son is FULLY covered by health insurance, and I AM currently handling and paying for all of his medical care,” she claimed. “Beware this is a scam for anyone that has donated.”
As Jenelle continues to parent her three children, the former 16 and Pregnant star isn’t afraid to clap back at followers and naysayers alike who think they know what is happening with her family behind closed doors.
When one social media user criticized Jenelle’s actions, the former MTV reality star responded.
“My business is not your business and you don’t know what’s best for my son, let alone my family,” she wrote via X on April 7. “Byeeee stranger.”
