The Colts and Kenny Moore II aren’t playing nice. They didn’t have conversations. They mutually agreed it’s time to find him a new home. That’s the headline. And it matters because Moore is still one of the few corners in the NFL who can live in the slot, travel outside when needed, and not look lost on the field. Moore is entering the last year of his deal with a $13.11M cap hit in 2026 and $10M cash. Indy can save about $7M on the cap by trading him while taking on roughly $6.05M in dead money.
That cap math is why this is happening now. And it’s why teams are going to try to pull the usual garbage negotiation tactics. “He’s 30.” “Nickel corners aren’t worth it.” Cool story, bro. Find another nickel who’s started 111 of 132 games, with 649 tackles, 21 interceptions, 68 passes defended, 11.5 sacks, and six forced fumbles. I’ll wait. This will be a sweepstakes – and it’s basically three teams if you’re being honest.

Kansas City Chiefs
Kansas City is the cleanest fit because they’ve already bled corner talent this offseason and need a ready-made chess piece. Moore is plug-and-play in a role the Chiefs value, and he’s good enough to help them matter in January.
Miami Dolphins
Miami has clear holes in the secondary, especially in the slot, and Moore fixes that instantly without a multi-year commitment. If the Dolphins are truly rebuilding and want competence in coverage without lighting their cap on fire (again), this is the move.
My dark horse – Carolina Panthers
This probably won’t happen because Carolina isn’t always smart, but it should. They need a real slot defender, and Moore fits what they run. He’d also stabilize a room that can’t afford to keep gambling.
Moore’s Value
And to be certain, the Colts will want real value back. But let’s GM this. Moore’s 2025 usage dipped (he started 7 of 14, played 75.5% of snaps after playing 98.4% in 2024), and teams will use that to press the price down. Indy needs to stick to their guns, though. If someone wants a proven nickel who can also play outside, pay up – or they can keep him because proven coverage corners aren’t a dime a dozen.
