The UCLA Bruins women’s basketball team capped off a remarkable season by capturing the national championship, finishing with a 37–1 record and entering the final game on a 31-game winning streak. While the team’s defense and depth were key all season, the championship spotlight shone especially bright on Gabriela Jaquez, who delivered one of the defining performances of the tournament. UCLA controlled the game from the opening tip, using disciplined defense to hold South Carolina to just 29% shooting and never allowing them to find any rhythm.

Jaquez led the offensive charge with 21 points, consistently scoring in big moments and helping UCLA build and maintain its lead. Her versatility, scoring, rebounding, and playmaking set the tone for the Bruins, while Lauren Betts anchored the paint and earned Most Outstanding Player honors with a dominant double-double. UCLA also controlled the glass with a 49–37 rebounding advantage, showing its physicality on both ends. With Jaquez stepping up on the biggest stage, the Bruins secured a historic and convincing national title victory.
