Logan Wilson’s NFL career is over. The former Cincinnati Bengals linebacker announced his retirement on Wednesday at 29 years old.
“After a lot of thought and prayer, I’ve decided to officially retire from the NFL,” Wilson wrote on Instagram. “From being a Wyoming kid with big dreams to hearing my name called in the 3rd round of the 2020 Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals… football gave me more than I ever could have imagined.”
Wilson started 65 games across nearly five seasons in Cincinnati. He racked up 541 tackles and pulled down 11 interceptions while becoming one of the key defensive pieces during the Bengals’ Super Bowl LVI run – they fell to the Los Angeles Rams in that game.
That playoff run clearly meant everything to him.
“That 2021 playoff run was something special — the interception in Tennessee to send us to the AFC Championship, beating Kansas City to win the AFC, and taking the field in the Super Bowl,” Wilson wrote. “Those moments and that locker room are something I’ll carry with me forever. And the best part of all, my daughter was born there.”
The Bengals named him a captain heading into 2025; things didn’t go as planned after that. Cincinnati benched Wilson during the season in favor of rookie Barrett Carter, which led to a trade to Dallas before last year’s deadline.
Dallas sent a 2026 seventh-round pick to the Bengals for Wilson. He appeared in seven games with the Cowboys and logged 28 tackles plus a forced fumble – but he only started once.
The Cowboys stuck with Kenneth Murray Jr. as their starter despite ongoing issues at linebacker and across the entire defense. On Christmas Day against Washington (a game Dallas won), Wilson didn’t play a single snap. The coaching staff later called it an error on their part.
Dallas released Wilson on Feb. 20.
