The guardians of the big screen.
Chris Pratt revealed that he and his wife Katherine Schwarzenegger have not allowed their three children to watch a movie yet.
While on Tuesday’s episode of Today, host Craig Melvin asked the actor if his kids “know how cool it is” that Pratt is the voice of “one of the most iconic characters [Mario],” referring to his role in the “Super Mario Bros.” films.
“My 5-year-old, my 3-year-old, and my 1-year-old have never seen movies. Katherine is very old-school when it comes to screens and technology and all of that stuff. So, we’re waiting,” Pratt explained about daughters Lyla, 5, and Eloise, 3, and son Ford, 1.
However, the “Guardians of the Galaxy” star has taken his eldest son, Jack, 13, whom he shares with ex-wife Anna Faris, to a screening of the 2023 “Super Mario Bros Movie.”
“He thinks it’s pretty cool,” Pratt added.
The “Jurassic World” actor knows that at some point, his three little ones will think “their dad is really cool.”
“They haven’t realized it yet, but one day. Jack likes me though,” he teased.
Pratt, 46, and Schwarzenegger, 36, tied the knot in 2019, and the ” star has been open about their tight-knit relationship.
In February, Pratt opened up about the “list of directives” the couple created before walking down the aisle.
“If you’re somebody who’s thinking of getting married, you should definitely follow this,” he said while on the “Literally! With Rob Lowe” podcast at the time. “They ask you questions you would not even think to answer until you’ve been married for eight years and then something comes up, and you’re like, ‘What do you mean? That’s what you think about that?’ And then you have to negotiate it then. Like re-negotiating every landmine. It was really great.”
Pratt and Schwarzenegger compiled a “list of directives” that they would include in both their wedding and partnership.
And just last year summer, the “Electric State” star gushed over fatherhood.
While on “Today,” Pratt said he takes a more “sensitive” approach to parenting.
“My style is very heavily influenced by how I was raised. I was a very sensitive kid, but my dad was very tough and very strict. So I tend to be a little more mindful of the sensitivity in kids,” he shared. “So I’m not as tough and I’m not as strict.”
Pratt said his wife has a different take on parenting and is “more of the rule enforcer.”
“We have a nice balance there,” he said.
At the end of the day, the “Parks and Recreation” alum is just happy to show up.
“I think as long as you’re present, you kinda can’t go wrong,” Pratt expressed. “You’re gonna mess up. You’re not gonna get it right, but you were there, and I think that ends up being important to adults when they grow up and they look back on their childhood, is, ‘Hey, my dad was there, and that’s a good thing.’ ”
