Karl-Anthony Towns and the New York Knicks entered Game 3 of the NBA Finals with a 2-0 lead. They played in front of their fans at Madison Square Garden aiming to be within one win away from winning the title.
However, things didn’t go according to plan. The San Antonio Spurs was the more aggressive team and awarded 16 more free throws in the second half. While Towns could have blamed the referees, he instead cited the team’s turnovers as the biggest reason for the defeat.

“That ain’t cost us the game,” Towns said. “We turned the ball over. Didn’t execute, didn’t do what got us 13 straight wins in a row.”
New York committed 13 turnovers compared to San Antonio’s eight. The difference may not be significant on paper, but the timing of the Knicks’ miscues played a big role in their 115-11 loss.
How did Karl-Anthony Towns and the Knicks perform in Game 3?
Towns just missed out on a double-double by two rebounds, finishing with 11 points. His lack of aggressiveness was evident throughout the game as he only attempted 10 shots. He also missed both of his 3-point shots.
Jalen Brunson led the way with 32 points, five rebounds and five assists, while OG Anunoby contributed 28 points and five rebounds. Towns and Co. will only have one day to recover as Game 4 is scheduled on Wednesday also at MSG.
The team’s fans will likely be even louder in cheering for the Knicks in hopes of a 3-1 series lead. Tip-off is set for 8:30 p.m. ET and the game will air live on ABC.
