Zia Cooke scored 16 of her career-high 25 points in the second half on Friday night as Seattle avenged a loss on Wednesday to the Connecticut Sun with a 77-59 victory. Rookie Flau’jae Johnson had her best game as a pro, finishing with 17 points, seven rebounds, and three blocked shots, while Natisha Hiedeman went for 11 points and five assists. After trailing by eight in the first quarter, the Storm roared back to lead by nine at the half and steadily pulled away after the break.

The Mystics last played on Monday night, taking a 92-69 road thumping from the Dallas Wings. Washington’s 19 turnovers led to 23 points for the Wings, and Shakira Austin led the Mystics with 12 points. Rookie Lauren Betts came off the bench for 11 points in 15 minutes, while Kiki Iriafen grabbed 10 rebounds while finishing with nine points on 2-of-6 shooting.
The Storm will play its fourth straight game without center Dominique Malonga, who remains in the concussion protocol. Cooke averages 12.3 points for Seattle, with Hiedeman getting 12.0 points per game, Johnson posting 11.8 points and 5.0 rebounds a night, and Jade Melbourne putting up 11.5 points and 4.2 assists per contest. Sonia Citron leads Washington with an average of 20.0 points, and Iriafen books 16.5 points and 12.8 boards per game.
