1 dead after overnight shooting in Vermillion

VERMILLION, S.D. (KCAU) — One person is dead after a shooting happened overnight in Vermillion.

According to a release from the Vermillion Police Department, they received a call at around 11:58 p.m. on Tuesday about a shooting in the area of the 600 block of Catalina Avenue.

According to a release, officers found a man who had died from a gunshot wound when they arrived at the scene.

Police said that they know who is involved in the incident and all parties are cooperating. No arrests have officially been made at this time.

Police also added that there is no threat to the public.

No names have been released at this time as family members are still being notified.

Police are still investigating this incident. The Vermillion Police Department, Clay County SHeriff’s Office, and the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation are all investigating.
