LifeServe Blood Center teams up with Sioux City Bandits

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) – When it comes to blood, one donation can save a lot of lives.

The LifeServe Blood Center partnered with the Sioux City Bandits to help the community with blood donations. Spring often means an increase in accidents, so demand for donated blood also increases.

LifeServe currently lists both O negative and O positive blood types as critically low, as well as A and B negative. Just one pint of blood can save up to seven lives.

Bandits President Brett Funke said that blood donations can go far in the community.

“I’ve been with Bandits for three years and this is the first time we have done a blood drive, which I think is amazing, because it saves lives,” Funke said. “It’s a way that we can bring two organizations together and make a big difference. We’ve been around for over 20 years, so we have a big fan base.”

Donors received a free t-shirt and a voucher for one of the Bandits games.

The public is welcome to make an appointment to donate blood by coming into the center or clicking here.
