Wayne State football holds spring scrimmage against Chadron State

WAYNE, NEBRASKA (KCAU) – Football is back in the air in Wayne, Nebraska as Wayne State College football held its spring scrimmage against Chadron State, giving fans their first glimpse of the Wildcats’ on-field product ahead of the 2024 season.

No score was kept but the Wildcats retain plenty of their production from an 8-3 finish last season.

More than 15 starters return on both sides of the ball, including leading rusher Latravious Boyd, top receiver Kendrick Watkins-Hogue and senior quarterback Nick Bohn who had 34 total scores and ranked 2nd in the NSIC in passing yards and passing touchdowns last fall. Senior linebacker Dexter Larsen led the defense with 91 tackles last season, among the top four tacklers back for next fall.

Flashes were seen from younger talents as well, including Gehlen Catholic alum Keaten Bonderson who saw considerable time at the wide out position. Biggest question marks fall under the Wildcats’ progress in the trenches.

Wayne State hosts their season opener against Missouri S&T on Aug. 29th. Kickoff set for 6pm.
