Fire causes extensive damage to Norfolk home, officials investigating

NORFOLK, Neb. (KCAU) — A Norfolk home will need thousands of dollars in repairs as a result of a fire on Sunday morning.

According to a release, the fire was reported at 11:04 a.m. at a house on the 900 block of South 1st Street. 

The release states that crews arrived to find heavy smoke and moderate flames inside the home.

With the help of 26 firefighters and 8 rigs, crews were able to bring the fire under control in 10 minutes. The release specified that it took another hour and 30 minutes to overhaul the structure. No firefighters or civilians were injured during the incident.

The property sustained an estimated $70,000 in damage to the house and $50,000 to the contents of the home, according to the release.  

The Norfolk Fire Division was assisted by the NPD, Red Cross, NPPD, Hadar Fire, and Black Hills Energy.
