LifeServe Blood Center in need of donations

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — With warmer weather and more people being outside and on the move, LifeServe Blood Center in Sioux City is seeking donations from the community.

Officials said their blood bank is currently sitting alright overall, but could improve the supply of O negative.

The center will be holding a blood donation drive in Correctionville on April 17. It will be at River Valley High School from 11:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.

LifeServe officials said giving blood helps bolster the blood supply for local hospitals.

“It’s a super easy process, and you’re actually saving three lives by doing that,” PR and Marketing Coordinator Rebekah Armstrong said. “I think to be able to go through a little bit of uncomfortability for the five to fifteen minutes, you know, of just not wanting to do something like that is worth it for somebody to be saved.”

The blood donations stay here in Siouxland. If you’d like to schedule an appointment to give blood, click here.
