Fans in London were left baffled on Thursday after a video went viral that seemingly showed Tom Cruise filming yet another hair-raising stunt in London.

The actor, 61, has become famous for never steering away from a challenge and taking on even the riskiest of stunts for his films.

Several stunned passersby shared videos of a man doing several dangerous looking stunts during a movie shoot.

The stuntman looked every inch the action star as he posed in a perfect superhero landing crouch, while balancing on the roof of a moving car.

He then took on another death-defying stunt, as he swung in midair while holding onto a long rope, seemingly with no safety net beneath him.

And in his classic spy outfit of a black suit with a white tie and black tie, fans couldn’t help but assume the actor was Tom filming for the eighth Mission: Impossible film.

One person wrote: ‘Tom Cruise is a legend’ with another quipping: ‘I’m starting to feel like the missions are possible’.

A third joked: ‘The screams in the background are the insurance company representatives having heart attacks.’

Another added: ‘Damn this man never gets old’ while a fifth said: ‘THE GOAT OF HOLLYWOOD!!!’

A sixth said: ‘Bro he is literally hanging without any harness’ and someone else wrote: ‘Stay alive Tom! Cinema needs you!’

And an eighth commented: ‘Somehow watching him doing the stunts is x25 better than watching the actual movie’.

However, the man in the video was in fact a stuntman named Bobby Holland Hanton, who has worked as Chris Hemsworth‘s stunt double.

The daredevil shared a behind-the-scenes snap of the risky stunt on his Instagram, writing: ‘Anyone need a transit van man? Just shooting movies at Buckingham Palace’.

Bobby is currently in a relationship with Love Island star Maura Higgins, after they were first spotted together on a date in London in May.

The couple were then seen enjoying several passionate kisses on holiday in Ibiza in June.

Maura wasted no time in liking Bobby’s exhilarating post and jokily commented with a gif of Mr Bean holding out his thumb to hitchhike a ride on the side of a road.

Bobby flirtingly replied: ‘hahaha definitely you that’.

He has previously appeared with Tom himself in the Mission: Impossible franchise, standing in for Henry Cavill in 2018’s Mission: Impossible – Fallout.

According to his website, Bobby has performed as a stunt double in 50 full feature films, working closely with Chris as his stunt double for 10 years.

Speaking to Hit Mid North Coast’s Krysti and Bodge in 2020 Bobby revealed what the Thor star is really like.

The UK-based athlete told the Australian radio hosts that he has ‘a great relationship’ and ‘understanding’ with Chris.

‘The actors I work with work really hard, especially Chris,’ Bobby said.

Bobby went on to reveal how Chris does most of the stunts, unless a dangerous move could see the actor risk an injury, leading to a delay in production.

‘Chris will say, “Bob, you jump in and do this”, because if Chris was to pick up an injury by doing it, it’s not that he can’t do it, it’s if he picked up an injury by doing it, then it would mean the production would have to stop.

‘That obviously costs a lot of money so it’s a knock-on effect.’

Meanwhile, back in 2018, Bobby told Daily Mail Australia just how far he pushed himself while filming several Hollywood blockbusters.

‘During [films] Green Lantern and Thor Ragnorak, I ruptured my [spinal] L4, L5, S1 discs which caused drop foot on both sides [an inability to lift the front part of the foot],’ Bobby explained.

He has also worked on films with Christian Bale, Harrison Ford, Robert Downey Jr, Angelina Jolie, Morgan Freeman, Charlize Theron, Johnny Depp, and Leonardo di Caprio.

Bobby began his career as a gymnast and competed as a National Squad Member and National Gold Medalist.
