Four Dutch youngsters are in jail in Norway, and three others are being investigated, for their role in a fight at a centre for Christian young adults in Norway, the AD said on Thursday afternoon.

The seven are said to have beaten up two Norwegians who ended up in hospital last Friday. The youngsters were staying at the Brunstad centre, where religious teenagers and young adults come to spend a period of time and study the Bible.

The seven range in age from 17 to 21 and come from Krommenie, a small village north of Amsterdam, local police say.

The trouble started when the group were out in the evening and had a run in with two locals, who, local police told the AD, had been drinking.

The Dutch youngsters had not been drinking or using drugs, police said. The investigation is currently underway and security camera footage is being analysed in an effort to find out exactly what happened.

One of the teenagers has admitted his guilt and has paid a fine equivalent to €1,300, the AD said.  Two others remain suspects but their role is not said to be serious enough to merit custody.

Some 3,600 youngsters from all over Europe arrived at the Brunstad centre last weekend, including 350 from the Netherlands. The Brunstad Christian Church is a worldwide evangelical non-denominational Christian church established in Norway early in the 20th century.
