Mac Allister gets booked (0-0)

Mac Allister catches Townsend and is shown a yellow card for the foul.

Ogbene wastes a great chance (0-0)

Luton build some momentum and spread the ball quickly from right-to-left. Alexander-Arnold is backtracking but the Luton attacker decides to try a difficult chance from range rather than pass and Alisson saves comfortably.

Salah floats a cross in (0-0)

Salah decides to try and clip a cross in towards Gomez who has cree-ed towards the back of Luton’s goal. The cross is hit too hard however and runs out of play.

Lovely play from Gravenberch (0-0)

The Liverpool midfielder works the ball through a crowded patch of turf, showing exquisite close control to do so. The move is eventually snuffed out but that was a good piece of skill to find a pocket in Luton’s defence.

Liverpool trying to work out wide (0-0)

Salah wants to get more involved and drops deeper to do so. The Egyptian then feeds a ball through for Nunez after he drifted over to the right-wing, however, his final cross is smashed into the stand behind the goal.

Back underway (0-0)

We are back underway and Luton will be hoping to continue from where they left off, Liverpool don’t need to change much either, they just need to find that crucial final pass.

Two minutes of additional time (0-0)

Luton rally as the board goes up showing two more minutes will be played. They’ve done really well to keep Liverpool out here and could fancy a late attempt of their own.

Nakamba shown yellow (0-0)

The Luton player stretches and lunges in on Mac Allister. Yellow shown immediately and he’s lucky he caught the Liverpool midfielder on the ankle or any higher and that would have been a red card.

Luton begin to showcase their threat (0-0)

It’s mesmerising one-touch football from Luton that ends with Barkley finding space to hit one from distance. He connects well but lacks accuracy. Alisson was worried between the sticks momentarily.

Konate throws Morris to the ground (0-0)

Konate is losing his phsical duel with Morris and decides the best way to get him out the way is to throw the Luton striker to the ground. Foul given and a yellow card is lucky not to follow.

Mac Allister goes down (0-0)

The Argentinian gets a slight poke in the eye when battling for a loose ball and goes down. He’s soon back up and we play on again with half time looming.

Luton do well to defend corner (0-0)

Kabore has to go off to serve his 30-second time penalty for requiring medical attention after an aerial duel with Nunez. Luton do well in his absence to defend a Liverpool corner but cheaply give the ball away again.

Jota forces a strong save (0-0)

The Reds are patient in their approach and Jota creates space in the box to be played through by Gravenberch. He gets the ball back and strikes his effort hard, but Kaminski does well to save.

Luton’s defence sitting firm so far (0-0)

The hosts are really organised in their defending and are keeping their shape well as they start to frustrate Liverpool.

The Reds can’t find an unlocking pass and that gives Luton hope to be more adventurous when they get the ball back.

Liverpool exerting control (0-0)

The visitors work the ball well through midfield and Szoboszlai is smart to find space inside the box. The final pass fails to meet him though and Luton’s well-structured defence again clears.

Salah runs out of play (0-0)

Salah latches onto a throughball but can’t put the brakes on quick enough and ends up running out of play.

Liverpool win a dangerous free-kick (0-0)

Gomez is clattered when he tries to win the ball back on the edge of Luton’s area and wins his side a free-kick in a threatening position. Szoboszlai dinks it in but Salah blasts over from close-range.

Konate fouls Ogbene (0-0)

The Liverpool centre-back is tracking back towards his goal and sticks an arm out on Chiedozie Ogbene who goes down under pressure. Resulting set-piece doesn’t test Liverpool.

Kabore gets a shot away (0-0)

Issa Kabore jinks his way into a shooting position but can’t generate enough power or accuracy with his effort. Luton will continue to come forward when they get the ball.

Nunez rattles the bar (0-0)

Nunez is found with a brilliant pass from Alexander-Arnold but opts for power over placement with his shot and smashes the woodwork from just a couple of yards out. He’s menacing Luton’s defence at the moment.

Nunez fires over (0-0)

He’s confident after another great goal for Liverpool in midweek and fancies a shot from range on this occasion. He hits it hard but the ball sails over the bar and into the waiting Kenilworth Road crowd.

Liverpool attack breaks down (0-0)

It’s a brilliant run from deep by Konate before he gives the ball away with an attempted pass to Salah on the counter-attack. Luton then try to break the other way but are stopped.

Luton trying to build momentum (0-0)

The hosts aren’t being shy with the ball when they nab it back from Liverpool as they enjoy a spell of a few forward passes into the Reds half.

Luton recycle the ball well but need to get more men in the box for the eventual cross.

Barkley attempts to test Alisson (0-0)

Ross Barkley will want to get one over on Liverpool tonight more than most with him being an ex-Everton star, but he has to do better than this shot as he drags one towards Alisson that is easily stopped.

Liverpool controlling early possession (0-0)

Liverpool win the ball back in midfield a few times and finally Salah puts a beautiful cross in on the six-yard line.

Teden Mengi then does really well while running back to clear the danger with Jota lurking at the back-post.

Liverpool’s chance to move up the table

Liverpool will feel confident of extending their good run of form tonight against a Luton side who are still finding their feet in the Premier League.

Three points can move the Reds up to second in the league table and just one point behind Man City. They’ll need to keep their goal difference ahead of Tottenham’s to do so who play Chelsea tomorrow.

Lowdown on Luton

Since earning their first Premier League win at Everton at the end of September, it was a tough October for Rob Edwards’ side.

They lost at home to Burnley and Spurs, before a 2-2 draw at Nottingham Forest. Last time out, they fell to a 3-1 defeat at Villa Park, with their only goal that day coming courtesy of an own goal.

Will the Hatters have a brighter November? It’s a tough game hosting Liverpool, but maybe having no expectations will allow them to cause a shock.
