For Rebecca Loos, it was a party to remember. But for all the wrong reasons.
It was September 22, 2003, and Rebecca and her work colleagues were giddy with excitement as they arrived at the home of Brazilian striker Ronaldo in an exclusive district of northern Madrid.
His birthday parties were lavish, the stuff of legend, and this was no exception. ‘There was wonderful food, a samba band from Brazil and flowing champagne,’ recalled Rebecca.
At the time she was in the middle of an affair with Ronaldo’s Real Madrid colleague David Beckham – yet to her dismay she found him ‘hiding at the bottom of the garden’ chatting to a stunning Spanish model.

Rebecca Loos, pictured, said Victoria Beckham was trying to get hold of David but he wasn’t answering his phone
‘That hurt,’ recalls Rebecca, Beckham’s former personal assistant. Her night, though, was about to take an even worse turn. Her mobile rang. It was Victoria Beckham looking for her husband.
‘She’s upset because she’s calling David and he’s not answering,’ she says. ‘I said I didn’t know where he was… And she says, ‘Don’t hang up, go and find him.’
I was like ‘Okay…’ ‘So it’s a bit awkward. I went into the house and up the stairs and I saw David’s two bodyguards outside a door.’
Looking thunderous, Beckham spoke quietly to his wife then gave Rebecca her phone back. Pictured, David and Victoria Beckham together in London, April 2004.
She describes how she whispered, ‘It’s Victoria!’, and mimes holding a phone.
‘He [one of the bodyguards] disappears,’ she adds. ‘When he comes back David is with him. I can see the model in the background lying on the bed. I can see it’s a bedroom. I was fuming and I just looked at him, gave him the phone and said ‘Your wife.’

‘I was so hurt,’ she recalls. ‘It was just this awful feeling and I thought to myself, ‘You stupid fool’.
‘But he had me, he had his claws into me, and I was at his beck and call.’
